Civic Center replacement project

The current Civic Center on New Town’s Main Street is scheduled to be demolished and rebuilt beginning this spring. Demolition is planned to start in mid-March. According to City Auditor Eileen Zaun, extensive repairs were becoming necessary in the current building. The roof, foundation, windows, sewer, heating system, and electrical system all need updating or repairs. The city offices, city council chambers, courtrooms, and New Town Police Department have all moved to temporary locations. They expect to be at these locations until June or July of 2026.

City offices are at 945 Eagle Drive, Suite 106. This is located on the north end of the building with Subway on the south end.

City council chambers and courtroom are also at 945 Eagle Drive, in Suite 105.

New Town Police Department’s temporary location is at Northern Lights Wellness Center.

When construction is complete, the city offices and police department will be in the new building where the current Civic Center is located. However, there will be a new building for the many functions that have been previously held at the Civic Center— the benefits, wakes, dances, meetings, craft shows, fall festivals, etc. This building, The Venue, will be constructed near the west end of Main Street, on the empty lot that was home to New Town High School’s vocational education center many years ago. Construction on The Venue is planned to start in May of 2025 and the hoped for completion date is November of 2025. This will have a capacity of 400 people and will be available for rent. It will include kitchen facilities, large screen TVs, and an upper level with 2 suites that can be used for bride’s and groom’s suites when rented for a wedding.
